More football matches have been played in the video game FIFA than on a pitch.
Media exist in multiple forms. As time passes and technology evolves, layers of interpretation construct a living history of an artefact. When subjects are recorded, transmitted and consumed, information is liable to become distorted in translation. These distortions can result in a fundamental change to our perception of its origin and state of being. Using the evolution of football and video games as an example of this, a number of conversion based experiments aim to identify distortions in the game and materialise or re-enact them in reality. In doing so we explore the possibility of a hyper-mediated form of the game and reveal underlying fallacies present in the media which documents it.
